How to fix quiet dialog and loud sound effects problem? Quote. Originally Posted by LRSVDRHello, I'm new here. From TV via analogue mini stereo jack to AUX in of home Stereo. Yes, you heard right, simple stereo as in Left/Right.
Was happy so far and had no issues. Along comes my first 6. The Complete Star Wars Saga. The Phantom Menace was unwatchable! Not for the obvious reasons, though. The stereo field was extremely wide and loud and went all nicely boom, but everything that happened at the center of screen was almost mute. I know that these movies are mixed very dynamic, but this was a choice of either not being able to understand dialog at all or blowing my ears off and my neighbors out of bed.
This is obviously a channel mixdown problem, I guess the rear center is getting split to left/right and all channels are getting mixed equal parts so the center channel stands no chance against all the other channels getting stacked on one another. But what can I do about that? Activating nightmode compression thingy on TV and player made things a teeny tiny bit less awful, but it still was unbearable.
I tried every combination of audio output settings on my TV and the player. No change at all. Any ideas besides spending money on a new sound system?
Hi,Any particular reason you go to the TV with HDMI and then from TV to your stereo just for Blu Ray sound?? Better way would be to leave HDMI where it is for Blu Ray picture. You will STILL get the sound of the Blu Ray player from TV if/when sound from your stereo is not wanted/needed. Leave minijack from TV to stereo in case you want to watch something on TV using your stereo for the sound. TV volume all the way down)NOW plug in a pair of interconnect cables from the red and white L/R outputs of the Blu Ray player to ANOTHER input on your stereo ( NOT Aux)Try to use interconnect cables a bit better than the red and white skinny ones as it should sound better!!
That's it Select Aux on your Stereo for TV sound. Select the OTHER input you chose for Blu Ray sound. Remember to select 2 channel audio in the menu of the Blu Ray movie you want to watch. If it isn't there don't worry as it will just downmix automatically. If you want you can hit the AUDIO or DISPLAY/INFO button on your Blu Ray remote which tells what audio and video is in use.
DO NOT use settings in your Blu Ray player or TV like DRC or night mode. They just make the sound WORSE. You can STILL mess with the TV sound if you need to. Just go into the TV menu and see what audio settings you prefer. Remember that you are now treating the sound from the TV and the sound from your Blu Ray player SEPERATELY.
I assume this will fix your Star Wars issue but if it doesn't I STILL think that everything should sound better. Lastly, go through ALL the menu settings of your TV AND your Blu Ray player to check they are right. If your stereo has tone controls you can even make changes to the Blu Ray sound there if you want. By hooking up this way you give yourself MORE audio options. TV Sound.... From TV or from Stereo.
Blu Ray sound... From TV or from Stereo. Just remember to turn TV sound all the way down when using sound from stereo!!!
